As a mom of 8 beautiful kids I am excited to share some of the recipes that we've enjoyed at family mealtime and the stories that go behind them. "Food is so pleasureful and powerful that it plays an essential role in creating a home that works. For your home to feel solid, meaningful, dignified and warm, you must have the means and skills to produce good, nutritious food, to dream up pleasant menus, and to set the table and serve the food in an attractive manner that is familiar and comfortable to guests. The Perfect Dinner Roll

I love food.    I'm always looking for the  "perfect" roll or bread recipe because for me  bread is the  ultimate comfort food.  Serve this with  homemade raspberry, strawberry or blackberry jam and you are in for the ultimate taste sensation!
This recipe comes from my cousin Krisanne's Ward Recipe book. (Let's face it, those are THE BEST recipe books ever!)
The taste  difference here I think is the evaporated milk in that gives it that extra oomph! (Is that even a word?)

 BEST ROLLS EVER!!!!

“Sister Clayton’s Roll Recipe”
½ Cup sugar
1 tsp salt
2 eggs
½ cups shortening (I use butter)
1 cup evaporated milk
1 cup warm water
2 pkgs dry yeast (dissolved in warm water)
7 ½ cups flour

Mix sugar, salt, eggs and shortening(or butter).  Add evaporated milk, water and yeast.  Add 7 ½ cups flour (start with 5 cups and add more as needed to make soft dough)Knead well.  Place in a greased bowl and cover and let rise until double.  Punch down. Form into rolls and put into greased pan.  Let rise 30 minutes.  Bake at 350 for 20 min or until the rolls are golden brown.  This dough can be put into a container with a tight fitting lid and be refrigerated (use within 2 day) or frozen.  This recipe can be made into almost any kind of sweet roll or dinner roll.  Makes about 3 dozen rolls.

*Who is Sister Clayton?  I don’t know, but I have had this recipe since college at BYU and she sure has a good roll recipe!
